Competition

There are many ways to get involved in competition.  We have worked with several couples to help prepare them for competition as well as danced with numerous proam students in competition.  For someone who wants to compete, we can help with every aspect of the process.  We can provide assistance in costuming, make up, choreography, coaching, etc.

We can help even if you don't have a partner.  ProAm competition is an exciting way to get involved.  In this format, a student dances with their instructor and only the student is judged.  Competition can be a fun and rewarding way to enhance learning how to dance.  John and Karen regularly attend events on the United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC) circuit.  At these events, they offer country western and west coast swing competition.

John & Karen's Schedule for 2008:

Peach State - Atlanta, GA - March - www.peachstatedance.com
Orange Blossom - Orlando, FL - June - www.orangeblossomdance.com
Southern Nationals - Mobile, AL - October - http://garnet.acns.fsu.edu/~rmyers/sonat/
World Championships - Orlando, FL - January - www.ucwdcworlds.com

Instructor fees for the events listed above are $20 per dance ($100 maximum).  This is the only fee paid to the instructor for the regular events during the year (Worlds will have a separate fee schedule due to the extra costs involved for that event).  This includes the warm-up and competition.  A run through prior to the competition will be available if time permits.  You will also need to make your own hotel arrangements and pay for your event pass, dance entries, meals, etc.

Other events will definitely be considered based on student interest.  However, instructor expenses for attending that event will be passed on to the students.

More information regarding these events and other general information can be found on the UCWDC website - www.ucwdc.com.
